Custom Millwork, Ceiling Beams and Built-Ins in Porter Ranch
Porter Ranch
Element Decor is a family-owned millwork shop in Chatsworth, a few miles from Porter Ranch, working since 2014. We make wood ceiling beams, wall panels, media walls, built-ins and room dividers for Porter Ranch homes, built in our own shop and installed by our own crew.
One finished project here: dark stained U-beams across an open kitchen and family room ceiling, with white oak panels wrapping the kitchen island.

One long ceiling, two rooms under it
In the Porter Ranch house the kitchen and the family room share one long ceiling. The beams run across both rooms at an even spacing, so the space reads as one room with two uses rather than two rooms that happen to touch. The beams are stained dark against the white ceiling, while the floor and the island stay light.
The island is the other half of the job. White oak panels wrap its face with the grain running vertically, so the island reads as a piece of furniture standing in the kitchen instead of a row of cabinet backs.
Our beams are clad: a light hollow structure faced in real wood. That keeps the weight off the ceiling and lets a beam run far longer than a solid timber would. On a vaulted ceiling in Sherman Oaks in 2025 the long white oak beams were joined with scarf cuts, so the joint disappears along the length of the beam.

New homes in the Porter Ranch master plan
Many of the newer homes in Porter Ranch were built in the Toll Brothers master plan, in villages such as Westcliffe, Bella Vista and Avila. If you are closing on a new home, send the floor plan before you move in: we draw the beams, the media wall and the built-ins from it, and template on site once you have the keys.
Element Decor is an independent, family-owned shop. We are not affiliated with Toll Brothers or any other home builder, and we work directly for homeowners and their designers.
Questions
Do you work in Porter Ranch?
Yes. Porter Ranch is a few miles from our shop in Chatsworth and inside the area our own crew covers. We built U-beams and kitchen island panels for a home here.
Can beams be added to a finished ceiling?
Yes. Our beams are clad: a light hollow structure faced in real wood, cut to the ceiling measured on site. If you want a fan or a light on a beam, we build in a fixing point at the drawing stage.
Can you match the beams to my floor or cabinets?
Yes. Send a sample or a photo and we match the species, stain and sheen in the shop, then send a sample back for approval before production.
Can you work from the floor plan of a new home?
Yes. Send the builder's floor plan and photos of the rooms. We draw the beams, panels and built-ins from it, then template on site before anything is cut.
What does it cost?
Every job is quoted from its own drawings or photos. As a guide, simple paneled walls run $4,000 to $10,000, more complex walls $15,000 to $20,000, and room dividers $4,000 to $8,000. Beams are quoted per ceiling.
How long does a project take?
Production takes 4 to 6 weeks after the shop drawings are approved. We template after drywall, then build, finish and dry fit the work in Chatsworth before our crew installs it.
Are you affiliated with a home builder?
No. Element Decor is an independent, family-owned shop. We work directly for homeowners, and with their designers and contractors.
