We build in our own shop, and we install with our own crew. That is why we can stand behind the work for two years instead of pointing at a supplier.
What is covered
Element Decor warrants, for two years from the date of substantial completion, that:
- Panels, slats and partitions we fabricated are free from defects in material and workmanship.
- Finishes we applied are free from peeling, blistering and delamination under normal interior use.
- Installation we performed is free from defects in workmanship, including fastening, alignment and substrate attachment.
Who is covered
The warranty runs to the original purchaser at the original installation address. It is not transferable, and it does not extend to work moved to another location.
What we will do
If a covered defect appears within the warranty period, we will, at our option and at no charge to you:
- Repair the affected work, or
- Refabricate and replace the affected panels, or
- Refund the portion of the contract price attributable to the affected work.
Replacement material is matched as closely as the species allows. Because wood varies, an exact match to material milled years earlier is not always achievable, and a close match satisfies this warranty.
What is not covered
Natural variation. Differences in grain, color, figure or mineral streaking between panels, between a panel and a sample, or between a panel and a rendering.
Normal aging. Color change and darkening from ultraviolet light. Walnut lightens, white oak ambers, and every species shifts over time. This is expected behavior, not a defect.
Environment. Movement, cupping, checking, joint opening or finish failure caused by relative humidity outside 35% to 55%, by direct sunlight, by proximity to a heat source, by water intrusion, by flooding or by unconditioned space.
Building movement. Settling, seismic movement, framing shrinkage or substrate failure behind our work.
Other trades. Damage caused by electricians, painters, drywall crews, flooring installers or anyone else working on or near the installation after we finish.
Alteration. Any panel that has been cut, drilled, refinished, coated, relocated or repaired by someone other than Element Decor.
Misuse and accident. Impact, abrasion, scratching, denting, pet damage, chemical damage, fire, smoke and vandalism.
Cleaning. Damage from solvents, ammonia, bleach, silicone polish, steam cleaners, abrasive pads or excessive water. Clean with a soft dry cloth, or a cloth barely damp with water, and dry immediately.
Customer-supplied material. Veneer, hardware, lighting or finish that you supplied. We warrant our labor on it, not the material.
Work by others. Electrical connection of integrated lighting, framing, substrate preparation performed by others, and any scope excluded in your contract.
Standard products. Products bought through the online store carry a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and are covered by our Shipping and Returns policy for anything else.
Conditions
- The project must be paid in full.
- The work must be maintained as described above.
- You must give us written notice within 30 days of discovering the problem.
- You must give us reasonable access to inspect the work before any repair is attempted by anyone else. Work repaired by others before we inspect it is not covered.
How to make a claim
Email office@element-decor.com with:
- Your name, installation address and approximate install date.
- A description of the problem.
- Photographs showing the affected area and the wall as a whole.
We respond within three business days and, where an inspection is needed, schedule it within ten business days.
Legal terms
This is the only warranty Element Decor gives. To the extent California law allows, all other warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the two-year term stated above.
Our liability under this warranty is limited to repair, replacement or refund as described. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost rental income, loss of use, or the cost of removing and reinstalling other finishes, to the extent that limitation is permitted by law.
Some states do not allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary by state.
Nothing in this warranty limits your rights under the California contractors' license law, or your right to file a complaint with the Contractors State License Board.
