Custom Millwork and Cabinetry in Calabasas
Calabasas
Two finished projects in Calabasas, both room dividers, both shaped by the room they had to live in: an apartment entry where every inch of floor was accounted for, and a kitchen partition that takes heat, steam and cleaning on one face.

A divider has to earn its footprint
The apartment project separated the entry from the living area while staying open enough that neither side felt boxed in. The hard constraint was access, not appearance: the divider was built in sections sized to fit the building lift, dry fitted in our shop, then assembled on site with no cutting in the hallway and no dust in a neighbour doorway.
The kitchen partition had a different problem. Kitchens put demands on a divider that a living room does not: heat, steam, cooking residue and cleaning all land on the side facing the range. The finish was specified for that, a closed and wipeable surface on the kitchen face rather than an open grain that holds grease, with a core suited to a room whose humidity swings twice a day. The opposite face is matched visually but lives an easier life.
Both read as ordinary joinery. Both only work because the decision was made before the material was cut.

How access and finish get decided
- Tell us the room and the routeDimensions, and how the work gets in: lift, stair, doorway width.
- Drawings and a 3D previewSection sizes and joint positions chosen for the room and for the route.
- Finish specified per faceA kitchen face, a bathroom wall and a bedroom wall are not the same specification.
- Template after drywallMeasured from the wall that exists, not the one on the drawing.
- Dry fit in the shopThe whole piece is assembled in Chatsworth, then taken apart for transport.
- Clean assembly on siteSections go in without cutting on site, which matters in a building with neighbours.
Questions
Can you build a divider that fits through a lift?
Yes, and the section sizes are planned around it. On the Calabasas apartment the divider was built in lift sized sections and assembled on site with no cutting in the hallway.
What finish survives a kitchen?
A closed, wipeable surface on the face that takes heat and residue, with a core chosen for humidity swings. The other face can be finished for appearance alone.
Do you finish both faces of a divider?
Yes. A divider is seen from both sides, so both are finished, even when only one takes daily contact.
Do you work in an occupied home?
Yes. Dry fitting in the shop is what makes that possible: site time is assembly, not fabrication.
How long does a divider take?
Lead time depends on size and finish and is agreed before we start, rather than discovered halfway through.
