Millwork is a drawing problem before it is a woodworking problem

Most of what separates good panelling from bad is decided before the saw runs: where the joints land, whether the grain carries across them, what happens at the corner, and which services have to pass through the wall. Get those right on paper and the installation is quiet. Get them wrong and no amount of finish work hides it.

So every project here starts with a template of the real wall, taken after the drywall is up, and shop drawings you or your architect can mark up. Panel widths are set so joints fall on a corner, a door head or the edge of a television. Sockets, switches, brackets and lighting are set out before anything is cut.

How a project runs

  1. You send the intentElevations, a mood board or a photograph of the wall. Whatever stage you are at, we can work from it.
  2. Drawings and a priceShop drawings you can mark up, with materials and construction called out so nothing is assumed. Every quote includes a 3D preview of the room.
  3. SamplesVeneer and finish samples in hand before anything is signed off.
  4. Template on siteReal measurements from the real wall, taken after the drywall is up, so panels land without filler.
  5. FabricationCut, veneered and finished in the Chatsworth shop, then dry fitted before it leaves.
  6. InstallationOur own crew across Southern California. Anywhere else, a labelled crated kit with shop drawings.

Questions

Where is your shop?

20371 Prairie St, Chatsworth, CA 91311, in the north west of the San Fernando Valley. Everything is cut, veneered and finished there rather than bought in.

Do you work outside Los Angeles?

We install across Southern California with our own crew. Beyond that we build it, dry fit it in the shop, label every piece and crate it with shop drawings so a local finish carpenter can install it.

Can you work from my architect drawings?

Yes, and it is the normal case. Send the elevation and we produce shop drawings from it, with joint positions, cut outs and fixing detail marked for approval before production.

Why is there no price list?

Species, finish, panel size and site conditions all move the number. Send dimensions and a photograph and you get a real figure rather than a range.

How long does it take?

Lead time depends on the complexity and the details of the project and is agreed with you before we start, not discovered halfway through.

Do you only do residential?

No. Restaurants, offices, clinics and coworking spaces are a regular part of the work.

Send the wall, or the drawing of it, and we will come back with shop drawings, a price and a 3D preview of the room.
