Element Decor is a family-owned millwork shop in Chatsworth, working since 2014, across the Valley from Sherman Oaks. We make wood ceiling beams, wall panels, slat walls and ceilings, media walls, built-ins and room dividers for Sherman Oaks homes, built in our own shop and installed by our own crew.
One finished project here: long U-shaped beams in natural white oak veneer on a vaulted ceiling, joined with scarf cuts so each run reads as a single length. Completed June 2025.

A vaulted ceiling, drawn before it is cut
The Sherman Oaks ceiling was vaulted, and the owner wanted the beams to make more of that height rather than hide it. The beams are U-shaped and clad: a light hollow section faced in natural white oak veneer, so a run can be far longer than a solid timber and the weight stays off the ceiling.
Where two lengths meet, the joint is a scarf cut, so the grain carries through and the eye does not stop at a seam. Every beam is cut to the angle measured on site, not to the angle on the plan, which is what keeps a vaulted ceiling looking right where the beams meet the ridge and the walls.
Across the Valley we have done the same kind of work in dark stain, with U-beams over an open kitchen and living room in Porter Ranch, and carved oak and walnut panels in Reseda. The shop is in Chatsworth, so samples, drawings and the crew all come from one place.

Questions
Do you install in Sherman Oaks?
Yes. Sherman Oaks is inside the area our own crew covers, and the shop is across the Valley in Chatsworth. We completed white oak U-beams on a vaulted ceiling here in June 2025.
Are the beams solid timber?
No. They are clad U-beams: a light hollow section faced in real white oak veneer or solid stock. That keeps the weight off the ceiling and lets a run go far longer than a solid timber would allow.
Can beams go on a vaulted or sloped ceiling?
That is most of what we do. Every beam is cut to the angle measured on site after drywall, and long runs are scarf jointed so the grain carries through.
What do ceiling beams cost?
Beams are priced per ceiling from the layout: the number of runs, their length and depth, and the species. Send a photo looking up and the room dimensions and you get a real number rather than a range.
How long does it take?
4 to 6 weeks of production after the shop drawings are approved, then installation by our own crew.
