A treatment room where the ceiling does the work

In a treatment room the client spends most of the visit lying down and looking straight up. In the West Hollywood clinic the slats run the length of the treatment area with the lighting set into the voids between them, so the light is soft and indirect where people are looking, with no bare fixture in view.

Clinical rooms are wiped down constantly. The wall panels below were finished in a closed, cleanable surface rather than an open grain, so cleaning does not wear into the wood.

Lights need servicing. The ceiling was set out around the existing services, and the driver access was kept reachable, so the lighting can be maintained without pulling slats off. That is decided on the drawing, before anything is cut.
