Custom Wooden Sliding Doors and Built-In Interior Pieces

Apr 29, 2025
Custom Wooden Sliding Doors and Built-In Interior Pieces

We build wooden sliding doors and fitted interior pieces in our own Los Angeles shop. Sliding doors, storage, shelving, tables, seating: all cut to your dimensions rather than pulled off a shelf.

Why sliding doors keep coming up

A sliding door is not just a nicer looking door. It changes how a room works.

It gives you the floor back. A swing door needs a clear arc of about 9 sq ft. A slider needs none of it, which matters in an entry, a laundry, a small bedroom or anywhere a door is fighting furniture.

It warms the room. Wood does something glass and painted MDF cannot, and it works in a period house as easily as in a new build.

It has to run right. Good hardware, a level track, soft close. A slider that sticks or slams gets hated within a week, and that is almost always a hardware and installation problem rather than a door problem.

Fitted interior pieces

The same shop builds the rest of it: storage cabinets, shelving, tables, benches and seating, sized to your walls and finished to match the panels or doors around them.

The value of built-to-size shows up in the awkward spots. Under a stair. Around a chimney breast. A niche that is 41 in wide, which no catalog cabinet will ever fill. That is where a fitted piece stops looking like furniture standing in a room and starts looking like part of the house.

Materials are the same ones we use for wall panels: walnut, white oak, blackened oak, Fineline, Shinoki, or a veneer you specify, over a stable MDF or plywood core. Brass and blackened metal details where the design wants them.

How a project runs

You tell us what you need. A photo and rough dimensions are enough to start. A drawing from your architect or designer is ideal.

We draw it. You see a 3D visualization of the actual piece in the actual space before anything is cut, plus shop drawings where they are needed.

We build it. Cut, veneered, assembled and finished in our shop, not on your floor.

We install it. Our own crew. Level track, correct fixings, clean edges, floors protected.

Pricing and lead time

Fabrication is quoted per project. Installation is quoted separately. Lead time runs 4 to 6 weeks for most pieces, starting once drawings are approved and the deposit clears.

We install across Southern California. Anywhere else in the US we build it, dry-fit it in the shop, label every piece and ship it with drawings and an installation guide.

Send us your dimensions and a photo and we will come back with a quote and a 3D preview.

Planning your own project?

Turn the details into a plan for your room.

Send rough dimensions and what you want to build. Our Chatsworth workshop designs and fabricates custom millwork, with installation in Los Angeles and Orange County and shipping across the US.
