Walnut Wall Panels with Brass Inlay

Walnut panels divided by vertical brass strips. The metal does two jobs at once: it draws the eye upward and it lands exactly on the panel joints, so what would otherwise be a seam becomes a deliberate line.

That only works if the panel widths are set out from the room rather than from a standard sheet size. The spacing was calculated so the strips fall at even intervals across the whole wall and neither end of the run finishes on an awkward sliver.

  • Species: walnut veneer
  • Inlay: vertical brass strips, flush with the face
  • Set out: panel widths calculated from the room, not the sheet
  • Detail: strips conceal every panel joint
