Most slat dividers are a row of rectangles. Turn them and you see the gaps, close them and you still see the gaps. We changed the section.
Each element in this screen is an oval in plan: five inches across the face, thicker through the middle, and only ten millimetres at the edge. That thin edge is the whole point. Turn the slats flat and the ovals tuck behind one another until the screen reads as one continuous wall with nothing but hairline seams. Turn them ninety degrees and they almost disappear, leaving bright vertical lines and an open room. Every position in between is yours.
The slats pivot one at a time, top and bottom, on slim black hardware that sits flush in the ceiling plate and the floor plate. Nothing slides, nothing rattles, nothing needs a track across the floor.
Veneered MDF, not solid timber. Each element is machined from a laminated MDF core, then wrapped in real wood veneer that runs around the curve and closes on the back edge. That is how the face stays dead flat and the curve stays true through a Los Angeles summer, which a solid oak slat of this shape would not do.
Finished in protective polyurethane. Clear satin, applied around the whole perimeter, floor to ceiling, because on a freestanding screen every surface is a face. If you want to colour it yourself, order the unfinished option in natural oak or walnut and we ship it sanded and ready for your stain.
Veneer layout is open. We can run the grain straight, book match it across the set, or lay it on the diagonal, which is something a square slat cannot do because the pattern breaks at every arris.

Cut to your ceiling. Tell us the height at order and we build to it, up to nine feet. Taller is a quote.
